J.J. McCarthy Gives Honest Assessment of Michigan’s NCAA Tournament Run

Former Michigan Wolverines star quarterback J.J. McCarthy appears to be the likely starter for the Minnesota Vikings in 2025. After Sam Darnold left town to sign with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency and the Vikings passing on the opportunity to sign Aaron Rodgers, McCarthy seems to be their guy.

While he has a lot on his plate, McCarthy took some time to speak out about the Michigan basketball team as they prepare for their Elite Eight matchup tonight against Auburn.

McCarthy, who is still a fan favorite in Ann Arbor, has been loving what he's seen from the Wolverines.

He spoke out about the team and their Final Four hopes on Friday.

During a sit-down interview with Kay Adams on the "Up & Adams Show," McCarthy shared his hope that Michigan can continue their tournament run.

"I love it because it's a very exciting game every time you watch. It's never just like clear-cut victories," McCarthy said. "It always goes down to the wire. So to get that Big Ten championship was huge and yeah, just got to keep going one game at a time now."

Going up against Auburn is going to be no easy task for the Wolverines. The Tigers are a No. 1 seed for a reason and enter this matchup with a 30-5 record.

Dusty May and Michigan will need to focus on slowing down keeping forward Johni Broome in check, as he has scored 18.4 points per game for Auburn this year. Also, the Wolverines will need big games from Vladislav Goldin and Tre Donaldson.

Tonight's game with a trip to the Final Four on the line is set to tip off at 9:39 p.m. ET and can be watched on CBS.
