The 2025 NFL Draft is strong at the tight end position this year with Tyler Warren of Penn State and Colston Loveland of Michigan among the top prospects.
Both Big Ten Conference stars have received heaps of praise headed toward next month's draft with Warren coming off of a record-setting season and Loveland a strong season despite injury problems and ineffective quarterback play.
Recently, the 2023-2024 national champion Loveland was given a comparison to a record-setting tight end who has turned heads across the Midwest and beyond in recent years, a good omen for any team considering drafting the former Wolverines star.
"Not many guys at tight end ever get in and out of breaks the way he does," McShay said about Loveland, calling him a "taller Sam LaPorta," the record-setting tight end who currently plays for the Detroit Lions.
McShay said that Loveland has a full "catalogue" of NFL caliber routes in his arsenal, something that sets him apart from other players at his position in the 2025 draft class.
"Colston Loveland's got it. Even more impressive at the top of his stem. The shoulders, the body, the hips, the movement, the setting up DBs, it's unique, man.
"Like when you watch tape over and over again, and all these guys are running drags and crossers and settling in zones, and then you pop in the tape of Loveland and he's like running NFL routes, it's really impressive to watch and it stands out."
