A new report may have revealed the quarterback prospects the Cleveland Browns really want in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Browns entered the offseason in a really tough spot. They have a huge problem at the quarterback position. Since arriving in 2022, former Houston Texans Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson has been a disaster for the team. When he isn’t hurt, he has not played well anyway. It was a problem they were able to overcome in 2022 when they actually won 11 games.
That wasn’t the case this past season, as their 3-14 record was tied for the worst in the league. They need to improve the position. However, Watson and several other contracts have limited what they can do in free agency. That is why they were expected to use the No. 2 overall pick in next month’s NFL Draft to take one of the top QBs available.
Unfortunately, this year’s class is far weaker than its 2024 counterpart. It has put the front office in a difficult position. Should they reach with a QB early or take the best available player and draft a signal caller later in the event? Well, we might have some evidence of what the Browns are planning to do in April.
Kevin Stefanski and Cleveland Browns targeting Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft?
“One of the more interesting attendees to Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart’s Pro Day today in Oxford: Browns coach Kevin Stefanski,” NFL insider Albert Breer wrote on X today. “So while owner Jimmy Haslam and GM Andrew Berry were at Penn State getting to know Abdul Carter, Stefanski got some QB recon work done.”
Cleveland has a whole team of scouts they could have sent to evaluate Dart at his pro day. The fact that the head coach wanted to get eyes on him and pass joining his bosses while they met Carter says a lot. The Nittany Lions’ pass rusher is viewed by some as the best overall player in this year’s class. And he will likely be there when the Browns are on the clock.
It sure seems like they intend to take Carter with their pick at two. So, while they got to know him more, they let their head coach go see the QB he probably likes the most in this year’s class. Dart is projected to be picked either late in Round 1 or early in Round 2.
