Chiefs Muscle Up In D-Line With 340-Pound Helper in Latest Mock

The Kansas City Chiefs are busy picking themselves up off the canvas after the Super Bowl debacle, and with the NFL draft just around the corner, how the franchise will move forward and improve the roster is an interesting exercise to do.

For most, the offensive line that was sliced through at will last season, leading to Patrick Mahomes' career-high 47 sacks across the regular season and playoffs, is the first port of call.

However, Jaylon Moore was signed to fill the void at left tackle. All the attention can't go on the offensive side of the ball, and some firepower also needs to be added to the defensive line.

And in CBS Sports' latest mock, Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant becomes a Chief.

"Tershawn Wharton is gone and Chris Jones isn't getting any younger, so the Chiefs must address the interior of their defensive line," CBS Sports writes. "It was a major bummer that a hamstring strain kept Kenneth Grant from working out at the NFL combine, but he's still a massive, super athletic interior defensive lineman with a ton of room to grow."

It is smart to begin to prepare for life without stud lineman Chris Jones and having Grant learn from one of the best for at least a season feels like the right move here.

Not a big numbers guy, totaling 6.5 sacks in his three seasons with the Wolverines, but Grant's physical attributes will be unleashed by Steve Spagnuolo and the coaching staff to give some much-needed bite to the defensive line.

Already with Jones and George Karlafits, the Chiefs might find their Tershawn Wharton replacement in Grant who while needing more time to refine his game, has good upside and could explode with Kansas City.
