NFL Draft could pause mail services to businesses, residences near Lambeau Field

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - With the impending road closures, residents and businesses near Lambeau Field are preparing for the short-term suspension of mail services.

Nearly 1200 residences and businesses could experience a halt in their mail service next month, according to a spokesperson for the United States Postal Service, who says this is due to mailboxes being blocked by street parking.

“The time before a Packers game, the three hours you know before the game when the traffic is bad, expect that all day long,” said Ben Selner of Ashwaubenon.

Selner attended multiple meetings the Village of Ashwaubenon had in preparation for the draft. The issue of getting the mail delivered was brought up several times.

“Somebody brought it up and they were told just if you needed to or were concerned about it, maybe just put a hold on the mail for the three days,” said Selner. “I don’t know if the mail will get here or not, but they talked about in the village that both sides of our road will be no parking, so I don’t know if the mail will even venture into here or not.”

The USPS did not specify which streets would be impacted.

Green Bay’s postmaster, Roy Strobl, says they will do everything possible to make sure everyone still gets their mail during the three days of the draft, including delivering mail earlier than usual to beat the crowds.

You can also place a hold on your mail. To do so, you can visit the United States Postal Service’s website and select the days you want to put a hold on. A reminder that the NFL Draft is April 24-26.
