Glasner on goalkeeper selection & Palace’s ‘fantastic situation’

With Palace having won nine of their last 11 matches, prior to a three-week break in competitive fixtures in March, Glasner spoke about the prize on offer in Saturday’s Cup tie: the chance to take his team to a semi-final at Wembley for the first time as a manager.

‘I think we are in a fantastic situation – Crystal Palace are in a fantastic situation,” he smiled. “Two months to go \[this season\].

“I remember I arrived a little bit more than one year ago and the situation was completely different, and so I think now we have so much to achieve, we have so much to win, and it's the best thing you can have in the crunch time: you play for something.

“We are in a good situation in the league, we are in the quarter-finals of a cup competition, and this is what we all want to do: we want to have really competitive games until the end of the season and play for something and not worry about relegation.

“All the players are fit, all the players are in great shape, there’s a great mood in the dressing room. We don't often have these periods in football, because in football over a season, there are many moments you have to solve problems with injuries, with the schedule, whatever.

“Now, we are in a great situation, and this is what I told the players. It's up to us to keep this until the end of the season and have two great months together we will always remember, and this is a huge opportunity.

“But also now it's not just enjoying this. We know we have to work hard, we have to perform on our best level, but really enjoy this time because it's a great time.”
