In what he refers to as a _“special”_ match for any footballer, Borja Jiménez’s CD Leganés will head into the centre of the Spanish capital on Saturday to face Real Madrid in a game that could have huge repercussions at both ends of the LaLiga table.
_Los Pepineros_ find themselves in an enthralling battle to avoid dropping into the Segunda División, with just three points separating the teams in 15th and 19th. Leganés are 18th, and currently sit inside the drop zone on goal difference alone.
At the top of the table, Real Madrid find themselves three points adrift of the league leaders after Barcelona cruised to a comfortable victory against CA Osasuna in their rearranged fixture on Thursday.
_“We know how complicated it is,”_ Jiménez admitted in his pre-match press conference on Friday, but the 40-year-old is able to take confidence from the fact that his side have already seen off both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid this season
_“We were able to win against two big teams, and now we’re going to try and make that three. I don’t think any recently-promoted side in history has been able to do that,”_ he added.
_“They’re unbeaten at home since October and so we’re heading into a very complicated scenario, but we maintain that drive and that hunger, and above all we know that we’ve been capable of doing this.”_
Real Madrid v CD Leganés at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu gets underway at 20:00 GMT \[21:00 CET\] on Saturday 30 March.
