Cardinals Hosted Former Big Ten Sack Leader for Top-30 Visit

The Arizona Cardinals' pass rush was a major concern for the team heading into the 2025 offseason.

They had struggled to get pressure on opposing QBs and clearly needed an upgrade on the edge.

They got that upgrade when they signed former Philadelphia Eagles edge Josh Sweat.

Even after having made that big move, it looks like they still may have interest in one of the top names in this year's class of edge rushers.

According to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, the Cardinals have already hosted Texas A&M edge Nic Scourton for a pre-draft visit.

Scourton has a bit of an odd prospect profile in a class that has plenty of that to go around at the edge position.

What makes him an odd prospect is that he was very productive as a sophomore. His 10 sacks for Purdue led the Big Ten.

Then he transferred to Texas A&M for his junior year and saw his production tail off a bit. He was only responsible for five sacks this past season.

However, he did manage to produce 28 pressures, matching his total from his sophomore season.

He also did manage to produce in other ways. He had 37 total tackles and led A&M with 14 tackles for loss. His efforts earned him a spot on the All-SEC First Team.

Scourton hasn't participated in any athletic testing during the pre-draft process.

Given the investment the Cardinals have already made in the position this offseason and Scourton's imperfect profile, the 16th pick would be too early for the Cardinals to take him.

He could be an interesting option if they choose to trade down or if he falls to them in the second round.
