SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame football team accomplished a lot on the defensive side of the ball last year, but the Irish also experienced a lot of ups and downs with injuries.
However, that seemed to never slow down this group. In fact, it seemed like they had more weapons up their sleeves.
So how do you refine a group that already had so much success? Irish defensive line coach Al Washington has the answer to that.
“A mindset all really high achievers have is you acknowledge the good, but you really drill down and attack the things you can do better, so that’s our focus” Washington says. “You look at last year, we had a lot of good moments. But man, we could be so much better. My goal as a coach, and I know our goal as a unit, is to not leave anything on the table. The reps you have and opportunities you have, you maximize every one of them.”
Spring ball will culminate with [the annual Blue-Gold Game](https://www.wndu.com/2025/02/03/notre-dame-sets-date-time-2025-blue-gold-game/), which will take place on Saturday, April 12, at Notre Dame Stadium.
