Barcelona midfielder Gavi was back in the starting XI on Thursday and even ended the game wearing the captain’s armband.
It was a nice moment for Gavi and came at a time when he’s been struggling for starts at Barcelon which has made the rumor mill sit up and take notice.
Gavi is expected to have more prominence in the coming months but highlighted once again how much he loves being at Barca.
“The whole team played a great game. I’m happy with the team’s performance,” he told reporters.
“I’ve felt pretty good. I know what I’m capable of. I’m happy with the coach and very pleased.
“The national team players are more fatigued, but that’s no excuse. In the end, we have to get the points.”
“For me, it’s an honor, a dream to wear the armband.
“I’ve been a Barça fan since I was little, and I’ve always been here. I want to thank Pedri. Captains are captains.
“Today I was lucky enough to wear it, but I’m happy and thrilled with a night like this.”
Gavi was also praised by Flick after the match for playing a “great game” as Barca moved three points clear at the top of the table.
