Devin White Joins The Raiders
March 28th, 2025
Devin White will ride again.
So former Buccaneers savior linebacker Devin White, a guy Tampa Bay happily let walk out of their building, is now going to play inside linebacker for the Las Vegas Raiders.
This is fun and intriguing, considering the Bucs ran out in free agency this month and signed veteran linebacker Anthony Walker, Jr. at the request of Lavonte David.
A year ago at this time Todd Bowles said he thought White needed “a change of scenery.” White got one in Philadelphia, a team that rather quickly realized White needed another change of scenery. He landed with the Texans and didn’t play much.
White was inactive in the playoffs, and in other games.
The fall was steep for the 2019 first-round pick by Tampa Bay, a cornerstone player for the Bucco Bruce Arians regime.
Now 27 years old, White has another fresh start. Former Bucs assistant general manager John Spytek and his new boss in Vegas, Tom Brady, obviously blessed the inexpensive, one-year signing. Joe wonders if Brady had a sitdown with White to figure out why he went from superstar to bust without getting old and wounded.
Joe also wonders if Spytek got outvoted by Brady on this one — perhaps with Brady explaining how Bill Belicheat signed troubled players all the time and they’re often worth the hassle.
