**DayofPal**– Gaza’s Civil Defense teams have reported that they are awaiting Israeli authorization to access the Barracks area in western Rafah’s Tel Al-Sultan district, where they hope to resume the search for colleagues who have been missing since last Sunday.
Rescue workers who managed to reach the site yesterday were devastated by the scene that awaited them.
Among the wreckage, they discovered the mutilated remains of their colleague, Officer Anwar Abdel Hamid Al-Attar.
Ambulances, fire trucks, and Palestinian Red Crescent vehicles lay in ruins, reduced to twisted metal and debris, the Civil Defense stated.
Amid the destruction, search teams uncovered shredded safety gear belonging to their missing colleagues. Officials believe Israeli forces deliberately targeted the rescue team during their work, using heavy machinery to alter the site and obscure some of the bodies.
Five Civil Defense personnel remain unaccounted for: Zoheir Abdel Hamid Al-Farra (fire truck driver), Samir Yahya Al-Bahabsa (fire officer), Ibrahim Nabil Al-Maghari (fire officer), Fouad Ibrahim Al-Jammal (ambulance driver), and Youssef Rasem Khalifa (paramedic).
In response, Gaza’s Civil Defense has issued an urgent appeal to international organizations, urging them to pressure Israel into granting access to search teams so they may recover their missing colleagues.
