Liam Delap transfer stance revealed as Chelsea rival Arsenal for starlet after'offer rejected'

Liam Delap is reportedly open to joining any Premier League club during the summer transfer window after a standout debut season for Ipswich Town.

Delap, 22, has scored ten top-flight goals for the newly promoted side so far this campaign but appears unlikely to fire them to safety. As such, with the Tractors Boys set to return to the Championship, it seems improbable that the England under-21 international will return with them to that level.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all credited with an interest in the centre-forward. TBR Football now claims Newcastle are keen to compete for Delap while acknowledging the player would be open to that move or any other top-flight switch.

football.london says: Chelsea could do worse than go for Delap. If they can do a deal at the reported £40million asking price, then the former Manchester City player should represent good value.

At just 22, he has the size and stature that make him seem more imposing than Nicolas Jackson despite them being the same height. Delap has a stockier frame and appears more adept at being a focal point, perhaps as a target for Jackson to work off.

Chelsea to rival Arsenal

The Blues will reportedly have staff members from their goalkeeper department attending Eyüpspor vs Adana Demirspor later this month to watch the latter's 16-year-old shot-stopper Deniz Donmezer play in the company of the player's agent Murat Erdogan, per Sports Digitale journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu. Adana's former vice-president Metin Korkmaz claimed on Radyospor in January that Arsenal offered £2.5million for Donmezer.

football.london says: Chelsea already have their fair share of young goalkeepers, with Teddy Sharman-Lowe debuting for the England under-21s earlier this week. However, scouting the best upcoming shot-stoppers makes sense, so travelling to Turkey to see Donmezer play in person seems sensible.
