Nikola Jokic's historic run this 2024-25 NBA season continues. Just a couple of days after becoming only the fourth player in league history to have 30 or more triple-doubles in a season, the Serbian star returned to action on Friday and achieved another milestone.
Entering the game against the Utah Jazz, Jokic had already recorded 15,984 points, 8,055 rebounds and 5,314 assists through 738 regular season games. So, by scoring 27 points in the Nuggets' latest outing, the Joker surpassed 16,000 points in his career.
Now, according to the NBA, Jokic has set a new record as the "fastest player" in league history to record 16,000 points, 8,000 rebounds and 5,000 assists.
Jokic did it in 739 games, breaking the record previously held by Larry Bird, who achieved the same statistical feat in 799 games.
"He is now the FASTEST player (739 games) in NBA history to reach 16,000 PTS, 8,000 REB, & 5,000 AST," the NBA announced. "The previous fastest was Larry Bird, who reached those figures in 799 games!"
The half-court buzzer-beater from Jokić gave him 16,003 career PTS.

For what it's worth, that's not the only accomplishment Nikola Jokic achieved in the game. He also became the fifth-youngest center in history to reach 16,000 points, a feat which speaks volumes of his dominance in his 10 years in the NBA.
The Nuggets have now won two straight games since Jokic returned from an ankle injury, beating the Jazz 129-93. By the looks of it, they are well poised to continue their streak with the three-time MVP leading the way.
