We round up the biggest new Premier League transfer rumours - with news from Newcastle, Aston Villa, Man City, Chelsea and more.

It’s finally Saturday, so we do hope you’re enjoying our latest daily round-up of the biggest (and wildest) new Premier League transfer rumours from the comfort of your bed as you enjoy a well-earned lie-in – unless you’re a Newcastle fan, in which case we hope our first two stories of the day put some pep in your step as you head down to Town Moor for the open-top bus parade. Don’t drink too irresponsibly…

We’ll start with a story from TBR Football which claims that Newcastle are now “ready to compete” for Ipswich Town’s promising young striker Liam Delap, whose 10 goals are just about the only thing keeping the Tractor Boys in with a chance of staying in the top flight this season.

They wouldn’t be signing Delap as a replacement for Alexander Isak, who is optimistically wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool, but to compete with the Swede for minutes, apparently – and Delap himself is “open” to making the move to Tyneside.

Apparently, Ipswich will sell for around £40m, a price which won’t dissuade the Magpies from making a move. All they need to do is convince him to head to Newcastle instead of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Spurs or Liverpool – the list of teams that TBR Football believe to be interested right now.

The 3AM Verdict: There could be a big bidding war for Delap this summer but we have a sneaky suspicion that there won’t be as many bids as some transfer columnists seem to expect – he’s a lot of teams’ second or third choice, but not top of many lists. That could mean that if a club like Newcastle do make a move regardless of other transfers being made in the market, they might have a better chance of getting him than seems to be the case right now.

Newcastle United & Aston Villa battle for £33.5 man

That isn’t the only Newcastle story doing the rounds, mind you – Caught Offside also claim that both they and Aston Villa are interested in Bournemouth’s Burkinabe winger Dango Ouattara, who has “plenty of admirers” including teams from the continent.

Adding Ouattara would offer Howe more options on the wings, although the article speculates that Bournemouth would prefer to sell abroad. Napoli and AC Milan are both mentioned as suitors, too. The report goes on to suggest that the Cherries could be tempted to sell Ouattara for a fee of around €40m (£33.5m), although it isn’t clear whether either Newcastle or Villa are prepared to pay that sum.

The 3AM Verdict: Ouattara hasn’t been grabbingas many headlines as some of his team-mates but has certainly been a threatening and versatile presence out wide for Andoni Iraola’s side, so it’s no surprise to see him starting to crop up in the transfer columns. He’s under contract until 2028, so the price probably will be pretty hefty.

Chelsea & Manchester City eyeing ‘contract rebel’

We’ll wrap today’s digest up with another Caught Offside story, this time reporting that both Chelsea and Manchester City are taking a look at AS Roma “contract rebel” Mile Svilar, who is supposedly stalling on signing a new deal with the Serie A side.

With Chelsea potentially looking for a new shot-stopper and Manchester City preparing to lose Ederson in the summer, the 25-year-old has found himself on both clubs’ radars, although they’re not alone in their interest. Bayern Munich, AS Monaco and… wait for it… Newcastle are all taking a look too. If Roma give up on further contract negotiations, then the ‘keeper, who only established himself as Roma’s first choice last year, could be sold for around €35m (£29m).

The 3AM Verdict: Our suspicions are that Chelsea don’t sign a new goalkeeper, if only because they need to spend too much money elsewhere, but the link to City is perfectly plausible. The question is whether this is all just a negotiating tactics as Svilar looks to add a few zeroes to the end of Roma’s contract offer – which would hardly be a surprise.
