Tottenham Hotspur have undoubtedly been one of the most entertaining sides to watch under Ange Postecoglou. Over the last 18 months, the Lilywhites have embraced a free-flowing, attacking brand of football under the 59-year-old’s guidance. However, playing attractive football doesn’t always equate to consistent results. Spurs are enduring a season to forget, currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table.
For neutral fans, watching Tottenham remains a rollercoaster ride. On their day, they can dismantle teams with ease. But the same adventurous style of play that makes them thrilling to watch also leaves them vulnerable. One moment they’re dominant; the next, they’re on the back foot, and defeats can come out of nowhere. It’s this unpredictability that defines Postecoglou’s Spurs—brilliant yet brittle.
Ange Postecoglou needs positive results quickly
Postecoglou’s side has shown flashes of brilliance this season, including doing the double over Manchester United and dismantling reigning champions Manchester City with an emphatic 4-0 win at the Etihad. Yet, consistency has been Spurs’ greatest weakness. The same team that stunned City has also suffered a shock home defeat to Ipswich Town and, more recently, slumped to a disappointing 2-0 loss against Fulham.
Despite the rollercoaster domestic form, there’s still hope on the European front. Tottenham fans can look forward to the Europa League quarter-finals, where the Lilywhites will take on an in-form Eintracht Frankfurt. It’s a tough fixture, but with Ange’s fearless brand of football, supporters remain optimistic that Spurs can rise to the occasion and keep their European dreams alive.
Porto’s Samu Aghehowa targeted by Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur fans have seen several great strikers play for their club over the years. The likes of Jermain Defoe, Harry Kane and Dimitar Berbatov have all donned the Spurs jersey. But ever since Kane left N17 for Bayern Munich, the Lilywhites have found it tough to replace the prolific striker. The arrival of Dominic Solanke last summer was the right move by Daniel Levy, but numerous injuries have plagued his season.
Now, Tottenham are again said to be in the market for a striker. With Richarlison on the verge of leaving the club, Spurs have been tempted to bring in a young striker to compete with Solanke for the No.9 position. According to CaughtOffside, Spurs are in the race for Porto striker Samu Aghehowa. But the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona are also said to be in the race for the Spain international.
The report also suggests that the 20-year-old has a €100 million release clause in his Porto contract. With the Portuguese club not willing to sell the highly rated striker, clubs will have to activate the release clause if they intend to sign Samu.
Is Samu Aghehowa the right man for Spurs?
Samu Aghehowa will be a perfect fit for Tottenham. The ex-Atletico Madrid player has brilliant hold-up play, has really good efficiency in front of the goal, and is an aerial threat with a poacher’s instinct in the opposition box. He is also equally good with both feet and tends to create space for the wide players by attracting defenders.

As per Sofascore, Samu has scored 20 goals and provided three assists in 33 games for Porto this season. His most notable game this season was ironically against Manchester United, where the youngster scored two goals in a 3-3 draw in Portugal. He has been in exceptional form this season.
