'Digging the players out': David Moyes stunned by what one Everton star has done behind the…

Everton have looked like a completely different side since the Friedkins made their managerial change in January.

The work David Moyes has done on Merseyside will not go unnoticed with the 61-year-old making the dream return.

A big summer awaits Everton who will need to act in the transfer window to replace a number of players set to depart.

Moving into the Bramley-Moore Dock over the summer will see the Blues open a new chapter in their history.

However, there are going to be a number of players who do not make the move over to the state-of-the-art stadium with the club.

Seamus Coleman is set to leave Everton at the end of the season, but there is another leader who Moyes could be set to lose.

David Moyes blown away by Ashley Young’s Everton leadership

Moyes has already hailed James Tarkowski as a leader in the Everton dressing room.

And that would be expected considering he carries the armband at Goodison Park amid Coleman’s absence.

However, speaking on Unfiltered Soccer, Moyes has shared a story about the immense leadership shown by Ashley Young behind-the-scenes.

“The likes of Seamus Coleman, Ashley Young, Tarkowski, Begovic the backup goalkeeper those boys have been fantastic,” said Moyes speaking to Tim Howard and Landon Donovan.

“And they remind me a lot of the old boys, Landon. The other night [week] we were at Brentford and we hadn’t played that well in the first half and before I’d got in the door Ashley Young was digging the players ou for not being at it.

“There was nobody getting annoyed with him and that was it, we all know we’re all trying to drive for success and wuite often we have to challenge each other to do that.”

Young is one of the players who is out of contract at the end of the season, with no real sign of extending the 29-year-old.

However, Young has admitted he wants a piece of Goodison Park memorabilia to take home with him after the final game.

Everton set to lose Ashley Young this summer

Coleman praised Young earlier in the season as one of Everton’s top performers during the Sean Dyche era.

Although he’s been impressed with the 39-year-old off the pitch, Moyes has barely played Young.

It is Jake O’Brien who has flourished under Moyes and nailed down the spot at right-back as his own since January.

So, the Toffees may not be losing out on Young’s contributions on the pitch, but they are certainly going to miss out on his efforts in the dressing room.

Alongside Coleman, these are two big figures who the club will be letting go of this summer.
