Jarrod Bowen could help West Ham United get a top transfer deal across the line this summer.

West Ham are almost certain to avoid relegation this season after steering 17 points away from the relegation zone following Graham Potter’s arrival.

This means the Irons can already have one eye on the summer transfer window as Potter looks to strengthen his squad ahead of his first full season at the London Stadium.

The centre-forward position has emerged as a major problem of concern for the East London outfit, with Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug, Evan Ferguson and Danny Ings scoring just four goals between them this season.

West Ham striker target ahead of London Stadium interest

That is why signing a new number nine is high on West Ham’s agenda this summer.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Several strikers, including Jonathan David, have been linked with a move to the London Stadium already, but Georges Mikautadze is emerging as a top target, according to CaughtOffside.

The news outlet reported via their website on Saturday (29 March) that they have been informed of the Hammers’ determination to take the Lyon striker to East London despite competition from other clubs.

Crystal Palace and Wolves have notably been credited with an interest in taking the Georgia international to the Premier League, something that would entice him.

However, Mikautadze is already aware of West Ham’s interest and is enthusiastic about the possibility of playing alongside Jarrod Bowen, among others.

The 24-year-old is likely to command a significant amount of money in transfer fees as he is contracted to Lyon until 2028 and wanted by other clubs.

Potter, though, is tipped to be backed with resources to bolster his ranks this summer, making Mikautadze a plausible target.

Mikautadze to play with Bowen

With West Ham’s senior strikers struggling to find the back of the net, Bowen has had to do most of the heavy lifting for Potter’s side in attack, bagging seven goals in 25 Premier League appearances.

The England international will surely appreciate the presence of a prolific goalscorer like Mikautadze at West Ham next season.

He has bagged eight goals and four assists in 27 Ligue 1 appearances so far, taking his total goal tally across all competitions for Lyon to 14.

It remains to be seen if West Ham can proceed and get this deal across the line.
