As Trent Alexander-Arnold's transfer to Real Madrid looms, many Liverpool fans may feel the right-back is departing too soon, particularly given his hints about next season.
The defender is due to become a free agent at the end of this season, and despite Liverpool's best efforts in contract talks, it seems he's set on leaving Merseyside.
Madrid have been keeping tabs on the situation for a year, and are reportedly ready to secure his services. Alexander-Arnold will be aiming to end his time at Liverpool by aiding them to Premier League title victory, having been a key player under Arne Slot. The right-back has scored twice and provided six assists in 28 league games this season.
However, the 26-year-old might feel hard done by not to have already surpassed last season's goal tally of three, especially as he had a goal disallowed against Manchester United in September.
The England star's goal was ruled out after a VAR review deemed Mohamed Salah offside during the build-up. This decision came after Alexander-Arnold had replicated Steven Gerrard's famous celebration at Old Trafford of kissing the camera, reports the Express.

After his goal was confirmed by goal-line technology, the full-back emulated Liverpool legend Gerrard's iconic camera-kissing celebration from 2014. But VAR cut the celebrations short — still, the Reds sealed a comfortable 3-0 victory in the end. Post-match, Alexander-Arnold shared with Sky Sports: "Next time, we're coming back."
Yet, it appears that Alexander-Arnold's last performance at Old Trafford has likely unfolded unless a future European draw pits Madrid against United. It seems he will depart Liverpool without having the chance to fulfil his departing words.
According to talkSPORT, they report that Alexander-Arnold has shaken hands on a five-year megadeal with the Spanish giants, bagging over £220,000 each week. Eyes are now on how Liverpool responds to losing their renowned No. 66, amid whispers that they're readying a move for Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, who reportedly has a release clause worth £42million.
