Country music star cries while talking about arrest of his daughter’s mother

Jelly Roll was the most recent guest on “The Pivot” podcast with former NFL players Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder, and it was an episode folks won’t want to miss.

It is especially a show that fans of the singer will want to take in because he hit on several heavy issues on the show. But one thing in particular, the recent arrest of his ex, and the impact it had on the daughter they share together, brought the big man to tears.

[**Taste of Country reported**](https://tasteofcountry.com/jelly-roll-daughter-mother-arrested-drug-charges/) that Felicia Beckwith, 36, was taken into custody in Johnson City, Tennessee in early March. The site said the 36-year-old is the other of the singer’s daughter, Bailee, who is 16.

The singer finally had a chance to break his silence about that on the podcast.

“My child’s mother has struggled with drug addiction since my daughter has been born pretty much,” he said. “The addict is not the victim in that situation. The family is.”’

The singer explained that he doesn’t have a phone at the moment and is pretty disconnected from social media but got sent a link on his laptop telling him to “call and check on the kid (Bailee) later.”

“It was a news article that her mother had went back to jail, had got caught with, like, meth or something,” he said.

“I’ve seen the affect that it’s had on her,” he continued. “I’ve got a 16, almost 17-year-old upstairs and I’ve seen the affect it’s had — it’s truly affected her life.”

The singer said it “broke my daughter’s heart.”

“This is a 16, 17-year-old that knows her mother is a drug addict, but like, her having to see the mugshot of her mother with just meth ate up on her face,” he said, taking a deep breath and trying to gather himself.

That is when he admitted he was “getting emotional,” and then began to wipe away at obvious tears.

“I watched her go through it all over again,” he said. “I was like, ‘Ah, man,’ I forgot ‘cause I’m like 40 and I’ve done a lot of therapy and I’ve done a lot of work and I have a relationship with God that it hurt me, but I just got to pray about it and move on.”

The singer said he realized his daughter didn’t “have any of those tools.”

“She’s still gaining those tools,” he said. “This hurst her.”

Taste of County [**cited WCYB News 5**](https://wcyb.com/news/local/3-charged-after-meth-and-fentanyl-seized-in-washington-county-tenn), which reported that a traffic stop led to a search warrant being issued at a nearby home in the 1600 block of Ferrell Drive. Police told the news station that 343 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of fentanyl, 16.5 grams of a crystal-like, powdered substance, four handguns, $1,200 in cash and other pills and paraphernalia were recovered.

The site said that Beckwith was charged with manufacture/delivery/sell/possession of methamphetamine, schedule II drug violations, two counts of simple possession/casual exchange, unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Jelly Roll has previously claimed that Beckwith has had sobriety issues. The site said he celebrated her sobriety in 2020, but when he testified before lawmakers in Washington, D.C. in 2024 he indicated that she relapsed, per Taste of Country.

“Every single day I have to wonder, me and my wife, if today will be the day I have to tell me daughter that her mother became a part of the national statistic,” he reportedly said then.
