Report: West Ham Revisit Familiar Destination in Striker Search

West Ham have once again been linked with a summer move for a new striker—this time turning their attention to Lyon forward Georges Mikautadze.

According to Caught Offside, the Hammers have identified the Georgia international as one of their key attacking targets ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The 23-year-old is also believed to be on the radar of Crystal Palace and Wolves, with all three Premier League sides sensing an opportunity to strike.

West Ham have a recent history of dealing with Lyon—most notably in the signings of Lucas Paquetá and Saïd Benrahma—and could look to rekindle that relationship in a bid to secure Mikautadze’s signature.

With the forward reportedly open to a move to England, this is one transfer link that might have some validity although unlikely to be a priority.

Mikautadze has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 27 Ligue 1 appearances this season—solid numbers, but even more impressive is his international form, where he has been prolific for Georgia.

Interestingly, he plays alongside fellow Hammers target Rayan Cherki at Lyon. The skilful French trickster has been in outstanding form this season and is reportedly available for just £21 million.

In fact, some insiders believe West Ham scouts may have originally been tracking Cherki—who currently leads the assist charts in Ligue 1—rather than Mikautadze.

With some of Europe’s biggest clubs chasing Cherki, competition will be fierce, but it at least demonstrates West Ham are targeting quality players.
