New claims have been made about a potential boost for Manchester United winger Amad amid his ongoing return from injury.

The winger suffered an ankle injury during training in February, which according to Reds head coach Ruben Amorim, will keep him out for the rest of the season. It came as another significant setback for United in a challenging season, with Amad being the joint-second top scorer this term for the Reds with nine goals.

Amad was a regular feature in every Premier League match under Amorim until his injury in February. It marked a stark contrast from his time under former boss Erik ten Hag, who often overlooked the Ivorian.

And journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update, claiming that the 22-year-old is ahead of schedule in his recovery from injury.

"Amad Diallo, progressing well in his recovery after injury and currently understood to be ahead of schedule," he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Manchester United staff cautious as they won’t take any risks... but there’s a real chance for Amad to be back on pitch before the end of the season, around May."

Amorim recently shared his belief that there is a possible chance that the attacker could be available in May.

"Even Amad, we will see in the end of the last month," he said. "I don’t want to say anything but I have the hope to have Amad before the end of the season.

"Lisandro (Martinez) is out. Kobbie (Mainoo) can return. (Harry) Maguire we have to be careful. Manu (Ugarte) will return. I think Luke Shaw and Mason Mount can return also. They are definitely going to return, especially Mason Mount."
