Strasbourg 4-2 Olympique Lyonnais

Two on-loan Chelsea stars have helped Strasbourg move up to fifth in the Ligue 1 standings.

Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg's astonishing campaign now sees them one point adrift of AS Monaco and Nice in third and three off Olympique Marseille a position higher.

And that's also down to Dorde Petrovic who made a flurry of saves to weather Lyon's storm in the first 45 minutes.

There's a long-held view and unanimous agreement among Chelsea supporters that the Serb has nothing to envy flop duo Sanchez-Jörgensen.

And truth be told you'll be hard pushed to find someone who prefers the Spaniard or Swede over the ex-MLS hotshot these days!

Barring  a missed clearance 30 yards from his goal with the game locked, Petrovic had the measure of Lyon's goal-bound effors.

He twice denied Jordan Veretout and made some good catches in the box to demonstrate an ability to command his penalty area with authority and personality.

Petrovic's rock-solid first-half display enabled Brazil star Andrey Santos to give Strasbourg the lead after nodding home his NINTH Ligue 1 goal of the campaign from a corner.

Assist-man Bakwa then turned to goalscorer when he found the net with a thumping low strike before Correntin Tolisson headed home a loose ball after Petrovic had parried the initial effort.

Yet it didn't last as rising Dutch star Emegha rolled home Lion Rosenior's side third. Amo Ameyaw then killed off the game with a clinical finish in the last minute of normal time.

Georges Mikautadze added a cosmetic pen in injury-time.

But it was too little too late. And Chelsea's talismanic duo are now dreaming of Europe's premier competition.

Whether they play it at Stade de la Meinau, Stamford Bridge or not at all remains to be seen though.
