A general view of statue of Alan Shearer, as fans gather outside the stadium during the Newcastle United trophy parade
Tyneside is ready to play host to a party on Saturday as the Carabao Cup celebration continues almost two weeks on from that historic day at Wembley. Newcastle United's players and staff will take a bus through the city before arriving at the Town Moor for a special show.
Some eager supporters gathered at the event from the early morning, while by lunchtime the streets in the city centre were beginning to fill up, with plenty making their way to St James' Park to witness the start of the parade at 4.30pm. Geordie royalty Ant and Dec will be leading the celebrations at the moor - and the legendary presenting duo were mobbed by fans at the stadium at 1pm.
The duo were all smiles as they signed autographs for fans and posed for selfies. One fan asked Dec: "What do you think of Sunderland?" to which he responded by laughing. The pair took several minutes to get to the chairman's entrance of St James' Park, with hundreds of fans descending on them.
Newcastle-supporting presenters Pete Graves and Lynsey Hipgrave will also be on stage, with a Q&A segment seeing Newcastle's leading goalscorer Alan Shearer take centre stage, along with Bob Moncur, Les Ferdinand and the Newcastle United Women's team.
Live music will be provided by Sonny Tennet, Ellie Scougall, The Belta Reivers and Paige Temperley. Afterwards, there will be a full team photo, including the crowd, before a second Q&A session with Eddie Howe and some of his key players.
All supporters planning to attend the Town Moor event should download their tickets before setting off to the Town Moor, Newcastle United advises. Supporters were previously asked to register their interest in attending, and those who did so will have been issued a ticket via email ahead of the event.
Our dedicated Chronicle Live team will be on hand throughout the day, bringing you all the updates from around the city centre. Our photographers and reporters will be at St James' Park, the Town Moor and everywhere in between from morning to evening.
