The open-top bus, which is set to carry players from St James' Park to the Town Moor, failed its initial MOT on Tuesday as it was being prepared for parade.
The open-top bus set to carry Newcastle United players through the city centre as part of their Carabao Cup needed a late fitness test to be involved in the celebrations.
Celebrations as Newcastle toasts Carabao Cup win
It is common for players to undergo fitness tests before big football games but this week, the bus found itself in a similar boat.
Records on the government website show that the vehicle, which has the number plate H22 BUS, failed its initial MOT on Tuesday as it was being prepared for the city centre parade.
Fortunately, the issue was soon fixed and it was passed fit on Wednesday to carry Newcastle players from St James' Park to the Town Moor.
It was tested at transportation company J.R. Adams near Gateshead's MetroCentre.
'All good to go'
"The bus failed its MOT on Tuesday," testing manager Chris Reeves told ITV News Tyne Tees.
"It failed on a ramp with a minor wiring issue. The company took it away to get it fixed and we got it booked in for a retest on Wednesday, where it gladly passed.
"It's been throughly tested and it is all good to go."
The bus was previously used in London before becoming a sightseeing vehicle. It was previously tested in the week before Newcastle's last appearance in the Carabao Cup final - a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in February 2023.
"When the phone call came through, it was 'Can I fit in a bus for an MOT?'," Mr Reeves explained.
"I said 'no' because our test lane was fully booked. The company then said it was an open-top double-decker bus and was needed for Saturday.
"I asked if it was the open-top bus for Newcastle United and fortunately, we were able to sort something out.
"It has been quite popular. It drew quite a bit of attention."
The parade convoy will leave St James' Park at around 4:30pm before travelling past STACK and east along Gallowgate.
It will turn left onto Percy Street, proceed past Haymarket and travel onto the Great North Road (B1318), before arriving at Town Moor for a larger event at 5pm.
The bus operator told ITV Tyne Tees the vehicle had now passed its MOT.
