Chelsea can land one proven Serie A star for half-price this summer. The player is also looked upon by Aston Villa. He can be a great addition for any of these Premier League giants if his current club decides to move-on from him in summer.
Enzo Maresca wants new additions in almost all parts of the pitch. One area which needs urgent attention is goal-keeping. Robert Sanchez has failed to leave his mark and hence finds his future uncertain at West London. In addition, Filip Jorgensen still lacks experience to become the first-choice keeper.
On the other hand, Aston Villa have Emiliano Martinez as their first-choice keeper. The Argentine is doing a very good job but is now 32 years old. There are reports that Unai Emery is planning to find a proper replacement for Martinez this summer.
Chelsea and Aston Villa both keen to sign Serie A keeper
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Aston Villa both hold strong interest in Mike Maignan. He is 29 years old and is first-choice keeper for both AC Milan and France national team. Despite his importance in Milan squad, Maignan finds his future uncertain in Italy.
Maignan will have his contract at Milan expire in summer 2026. The Italian giants are in talks to extend it until 2029. But, they are very likely to miss out on UCL next season. This will result in many big players leaving the club and Maignan is one of them.
Earlier, Milan wanted €80 million for Mike Maignan. But, they can make him available for half price this summer due to his contract situation. The Italian giants will put him on sale if the 29 year old doesn’t sign a new contract before the opening of summer window. This will come as a major boost for Chelsea and Villa who would like to sign player like Maignan on discounted price.
