[Manchester City](https://bitterandblue.sbnation.com) head to the South Coast as they meet Bournemouth for a place in the semi-final of the [FA Cup](http://www.sbnation.com/fa-cup). It will be the first meeting between the two in the competition and both sides will be confident going into the clash.
City have returned to their unpredictable selves which is reminiscent of the 80s and 90s, when the faithful had no idea which City team would turn up, while Bournemouth will be buoyed after beating the Blues for the first time in their history back in November.
The Blues have had an excellent record at Bournemouth, although their meetings have been sparse. The first time they met was at Dean Court in December 1987 when City won 2-0. The following season, City scraped a 1-0 win thanks to a Paul Moulden goal after former Blue Kevin Bond missed a penalty.
After a goalless draw in 1999, City then won all of their following seven matches, before November’s surprise-yet-somehow-expected 2-1 defeat.
City have only failed to score once at Bournemouth and have knocked in 21 goals in 11 matches on the South Coast whilst conceding just five. The Blues have also kept seven clean sheets compared to one from Bournemouth.
The Blues biggest win is 4-0, which they achieved in April 2016, and almost matched the score in February 2023, when they won 4-1.
The two teams have met once before in March, which came in 2019 when a Riyad Mahrez goal in the 55th minute was enough to give the Blues the points.
That’s pretty much it really, there’s not much more history between them. Sorry!
