Superstar pass rusher believes Aaron Rodgers will spurn Steelers for retirement

What will Aaron Rodgers decide to do over the next month? That is the ultimate question for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they head into the NFL Draft, which is less than a month away.

Rodgers has three options: sign with the Steelers, retire, or continue to wait into the summer when a potential quarterback injury arises on a team. The latter two would leave the Steelers stranded without a convincing starting quarterback, even if they have Mason Rudolph.

Superstar Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby believes that Rodgers, 41, will call it a career.

"I think he retires. I think the fact that he’s not with Davante and he’s not very familiar with Pittsburgh, I don’t know. I think he retires,” Crosby said onThe Rush with Maxx Crosby podcast. “He’s about 42 now. I would like that. I feel like that would make sense, him going to the Steelers. I think they need a quarterback; they need a guy who’s a vet, a proven dude. But I don’t know. I don’t see it. I just don’t see that as a thing. I can’t see him in a Pittsburgh uniform. My brain can’t put that together.”

In 2024, he played but was hampered by hamstring and knee issues. He missed most of the 2023 season with a torn achilles. That is not the recipe for success when the Steelers’ offensive line is still young and unproven.

Rodgers visited the Steelers facility last Friday and communicated with the team throughout the week. That has led to their belief that the situation will be resolved sooner rather than later.

Rodgers remains in no rush to decide, however. The Steelers have not pushed back on that, though, and any idea the team would give him major flak for taking time to decide has little credence.
