Brentford Under-18s secured a 3-1 away win against Peterborough United in the Professional Development League on Saturday afternoon.
The first goal of the clash came when Trialist A rounded off a good move on 11 minutes before second half goals from Luka Bentt and Emeka Peters secured victory on the road.
The first real chance fell to Peterborough as Rylie Fitzpatrick found space on the right and stung the hands of Evan Anderson, who then did well to punch away the subsequent corner.
On seven minutes Bolu Shofowoke forced a strong block from Anderson, and Fitzpatrick then smashed the post with an effort that swerved in the wind seconds later.
It was Jon-Paul Pittman’s side who took the lead when Peters’ deflected cross was swept home from close range by the Trialist A in the 11th minute.
The goal helped the young Bees to settle into the game, and ten minutes later a good combination between Michel Boni and Domeiro Bobb-Semple saw the latter test Posh keeper George Buckner with a driven effort.
Brentford almost had a second just before half time when Boni was fed through on goal but he was denied by Buckner who squirmed the ball away following a low save to keep the score at 1-0 to the visitors at the break.
The Bees started the second-half strong, and doubled the lead within five minutes, when Bentt drilled the ball home from inside the box after Peters drove with the ball on the right hand side. The move was an excellent one, started with Aidan Golding opening up the Posh from the back, allowing Peters to register his second assist of the game.
Peters then rounded off a magnificent individual display with a goal from the penalty spot on 67 minutes. Bobb-Semple was brought down in the box and the winger converted with a panenka that gave the west Londoners their third.
Despite a good team performance, Pittman’s side could not keep a clean sheet, as Shofowoke did well to round Anderson one-on-one and roll the ball into an empty net with seven minutes to play.
Anderson then had to make two strong saves from efforts from the edge of the box, and the young Bees saw out the win in Cambridgeshire.
The Bees are next in action on Saturday 5 April as they take on Sheffield United Under-18s at home.
