Mark Cuban became one of the most famous owners in the National Basketball Association during his time as the Dallas Mavericks' owner from 2000 to 2023.
Cuban bought the franchise for $285 million in 2000 before selling a 73% majority stake to the Adelson and Dumont families in 2023, effectively ending his time in the spotlight of the highly successful professional basketball franchise.
On Saturday, a Cuban bombshell on his time as Mavericks owner was revealed, painting a different picture of what most fans conceptualized his time at the helm of the Mavericks' ship was like, financially speaking.
Cuban said according to Front Office Sports recently that he lost money as owner of the Mavericks.
"I did every damn thing I could for 23 years," Cuban said.
"Kept prices lower than not only any NBA team, but lower than college teams too.
"I made money 2 out of 23 years I was the majority owner. Lost hundreds of millions of dollars."
This season, the Mavericks made national headlines when they traded superstar forward Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package including Anthony Davis, a move that upset many of the franchise's diehard fans, the effects of which are still being felt.
