The Brooklyn Nets have a 23-51 record right now and they sit at 13th in the East. The Washington Wizards have been even worse, with a 16-57 record, which places them at 15th in the Eastern Conference and is the second-worst in the league overall.
So, the upcoming matchup between the Nets and the Wizards is not exactly one that the fans are salivating over. And now, it looks like some key players will be missing on the night as well.
According to Underdog NBA, D'Angelo Russell (injury management), Day'Ron Sharpe (knee) and Nic Claxton (rest), have all been ruled out of the Nets' game against the Wizards on Saturday.
Since being traded back to the Nets by the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this season, Russell has not exactly shined. He is averaging 13.1 points, 5.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 37.0% from the field and 29.3% from beyond the arc.
On the other hand, Claxton has averaged 10.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game this season but has been more efficient than Russell, making 55.3% of his shots from the field.
Sharpe has been a steady contributor as well, averaging 7.9 points and 6.6 rebounds despite playing just 18.2 minutes per night. He is shooting 52.1% from the field.
Now, one could argue that missing Russell, Claxton and Sharpe is not exactly going to be an issue for the Nets, as they are not pushing for wins at the moment.
