The NBA world was rocked on Friday when it was announced that longtime Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins had been fired.
The team didn’t give much explanation for his firing, but clearly some negative things were going on behind the scenes.
Now, a new report is shedding light on the state of the team.
According to Sam Amick, Joe Vardon, and Fred Katz, per Legion Hoops, Ja Morant had “complained” about Jenkins’ new offensive scheme.
“Some days he looks like he’s ready to play, and some days he looks like he doesn’t want to be there… because he hates the offense,” the report stated.

Because of their lack of playoff success and other issues plaguing the team, a lot of people expected the Grizzlies to part ways with Jenkins.
But they thought a firing would take place in the summer, after their upcoming run in the postseason.
The fact that the front office laid Jenkins off right before the playoffs says a lot about how discontent the team and its players were.
Even though he has only played in 43 games this season, Morant is still the most important star in Memphis.
If he is unhappy with the head coach, the front office listens.
Plus, if Morant was upset, it’s very likely that other players in the lineup were as well.
Interim head coach Tuomas Iisalo is now in charge of the team for the two weeks leading up to the postseason.
He has his work cut out for him, and there are many questions about his future and what comes next for the team.
