From the moment the Buffalo Bills’ season was once again ended by the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, the team has focused on improving its pass rush through free-agency additions along the defensive line.
After releasing former Pro Bowl edge rusher Von Miller and extending current pass rusher Greg Rousseau, Buffalo signed former Pro Bowl pass rusher Joey Bosa along with defensive lineman Michael Hoecht and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi.
The moves could infuse talent along the Bills’ defensive line, but the signings are not without risk and uncertainty, and today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by analyzing Buffalo’s free agency moves on the defensive line.
Analyzing Buffalo’s free agency moves on the defensive line
Ever since he took over as Buffalo’s general manager, Brandon Beane has tried to develop his roster through the offensive and defensive lines, and this offseason, Beane continued to search for talent to shore up Buffalo’s defensive line.
While the moves could definitely pay off on the field, they also bring about significant uncertainty, especially when you factor in both Hoecht and Ogunjobi sitting out the first six games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, and Bosa’s issues staying healthy (he’s appeared in only 28 of 51 games over the last three seasons). How will these moves pan out for a team that once again ranks among the top defensive line spenders in the league?
