Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony ‘Hot’ at Kiyan Anthony’s McDonald’s All-American Snub

When the 2025 McDonald's All-American roster was announced, fans and analysts alike were left scratching their heads at one noticeable snub: Kiyan Anthony, the top-ranked prospect in the state of New York and son of NBA all-time great Carmelo Anthony.

Needless to say, Melo was anything but pleased with his son's snub - as was Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade, who appeared alongside the elder Anthony on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast on March 13.

"Man, Melo was so hot, he ain't even text me back when I asked him," Wade said.

Carmelo Anthony confirmed this, noting his frustration with his son missing the cut for an All-American nod - even after the ex-Knicks superstar recently did a commercial with McDonald's.

"The kid ain't lose in high school yet, in his senior year yet," he said. "They're the number three in the country. What are we sitting here talking about? How? That's my perspective on it, I think he got jerked. I think he deserved it."

Most of the complaints lodged by Wade and Melo, the latter of whom was a McDonald's All-American himself over two decades ago, were centred around the criteria for the game's selection. The younger Anthony is a consensus four-star recruit and top 10 shooting guard in the nation.

Kiyan Anthony is currently committed to play at Syracuse, his dad's alma mater, this coming fall. Despite missing the cut for the McDonald's All-American contest, he will have a chance to potentially avenge himself in the 2025 Iverson Classic All-American game on May 3.
