The Boston Celtics will be taking on the San Antonio Spurs today as they look to keep their winning streak going strong. Boston enters this game riding a seven-game win streak, and they've won nine of their last 10 games overall.
The Celtics are clicking on all cylinders right now, even with some injuries hitting them over the recent weeks. Boston has weathered the storm fairly well, and they've been able to find major success.
For the year, the Celtics hold a record of 54-19, sitting in the No. 2 spot of the Eastern Conference standings. Boston is looking to repeat as NBA champions, and if they are healthy entering the postseason, they will be one of the favorites to win.
But entering this game with the Spurs, Boston does have a few notable players on the injury list. However, they will be getting star forward Jayson Tatum for this game.
Tatum missed the Celtics' previous contest against the Phoenix Suns but will suit up in this game. This is huge for Boston since they'll be getting their leader back on the court.
However, others are listed on the injury report. Guard Payton Pritchard is one of them, and his absence would be massive.
Pritchard was listed as questionable for the game today and will not play this contest.
The former Oregon product has heavily emerged this season for the Celtics, becoming a mainstay of the rotation. For the year, Pritchard has averaged 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 0.9 steals per game.
The Celtics thrive on their bench unit providing a spark in games, so losing Pritchard would be costly. However, this team is built to withstand some injuries, and the Spurs haven't been overly great in recent weeks.
San Antonio has dealt with all sorts of injuries this season, and it's seen them fall in the standings. The Spurs have lost two straight games entering this matchup with the Celtics.
Even with the injuries in this game, it should still be a competitive game. San Antonio is still technically alive for a postseason spot, so they will be looking to snap the losing streak in this one.
