Insider floats absurd Aaron Rodgers contract for Pittsburgh Steelers

At the start of free agency, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk floated that Aaron Rodgers could command up to $45 million per year. While that does not seem like it is happening, at least from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers could still command a hefty contract.

The Steelers already have contract parameters set with Rodgers, so whatever that number is right now will likely stay as if he signs the deal. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the deal Rodgers is being offered by the Steelers is also only for one year.

Rich Eisen, however, believes that original number by Florio might not be that absurd.

“I think [Aaron Rodgers is] gonna start with a four. North of [$40 million],” Eisen said. “How about this? Two years, $70 million, with incentives that can pop it up more.”

In 2024, Rodgers played but was hampered by hamstring and knee issues. He missed most of the 2023 season with a torn achilles. That is not the recipe for success when the Steelers’ offensive line is still young and unproven.

Rodgers visited the Steelers facility last Friday and communicated with the team throughout the week. That has led to their belief that the situation will be resolved sooner rather than later.

Rodgers remains in no rush to decide, however. The Steelers have not pushed back on that, though, and any idea the team would give him major flak for taking time to decide has little credence.
