Ruben Amorim wants Manchester United to sign FC Porto attacking sensation Samu Aghehowa amidst interest from Tottenham and Barcelona.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, Manchester United could push for the signature of Samu Aghehowa this summer. Ruben Amorim is a massive admirer of the young forward and wants the club to sign the Spanish international ahead of next season.
Aghehowa had made quite a name for himself during his loan spell at Deportivo Alaves. On the back of his performances, quite a few top clubs wanted to sign him from Atletico Madrid last summer. He was close to making a move to Chelsea but eventually ended up joining Porto.
He seems to have taken his game to the next level since moving to Portugal. In his 34 outings across competitions, the 20-year-old has 20 goals and three assists. His performances have helped him break into the Spanish national team, and it has also caught the attention of the biggest clubs in the world.
Aghehowa is in high demand across Europe
Barcelona and Tottenham are two clubs that have been monitoring him since the start of the season. They are quite impressed with the youngster’s performances and would love to add him to their squad.
The North London club went big to add Dominic Solanke to their squad last summer. But the transfer hasn’t really worked out. As a result, they want to bring in another striker, and Aghehowa could prove to be a great acquisition.
Barcelona do not really need a striker at this point, but the 20-year-old could be a great long-term replacement for the ageing Robert Lewandowski. Lamine Yamal is personally pushing the club to sign his international teammate.
Amorim wants Aghehowa at Manchester United
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also in the race for his signature. They hold a concrete interest in the Spanish striker and have been keeping a close eye on him for some time.
Their manager, Ruben Amorim, is a big fan of the 20-year-old and is driving the club’s interest in him. Despite having Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in his squad, he wants more options up top and considers Aghehowa as a perfect fit for his system and the club’s project.
But it will be interesting to see if they can realistically afford to sign him this summer. The Red Devils do not have the best of finances, and they will have to offload quite a few of their stars to make any big moves in the upcoming window. Meanwhile, Porto are reluctant to sell the 20-year-old, meaning his massive €100m release clause could be the only way out.
