The San Antonio Spurs play their first game of a back-to-back tonight versus the Boston Celtics at the Frost Bank Center. Tomorrow, the Spurs will host the Golden State Warriors in what promises to be a difficult pair of games.

The Celtics enter tonight’s affair with a record of 54-19. Boston has the second best record in the Eastern Conference and the third best record in the league. With only a couple weeks left in the regular season, look to be locked into that spot in the standings.

The defending NBA champions have been hot lately. After losing a pair of games to end the month of February, the Celtics are 12-1 since the beginning of March. Currently, Boston is riding a seven-game winning streak. In their latest outing, the Celtics destroyed the Phoenix Suns by a final score of 132-102.

After winning three consecutive games, the Spurs have now lost two straight contests. First San Antonio lost in Detroit against the Pistons and then lost their last game 124-116 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rookie Stephon Castle led the team in points, rebounds and assists as he posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in Cleveland.

In the first matchup between these two teams, the Celtics defeated the Spurs by a final score of 116-103 back on February 12th. De’Aaron Fox led the way for the Spurs with 23 points, while Victor Wembanyama chipped in 17 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. Off the bench, Castle added 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

There are no surprises on the Spurs injury report. Wembanyama and Fox are out for the season, while Charles Bassey will miss yet another outing due to a knee injury.

With Bassey on the sidelines, that has opened up more minutes for Bismack Biyombo, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jeremy Sochan.

Boston Celtics Injury Update

The Celtics have a couple notable names on the sidelines. Payton Pritchard, a shoo-in for the 2024-25 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award, will miss tonight’s game. Also missing tonight for Boston will be Al Horford, the ageless wonder who is still supplying the Celtics with strong minutes at center.

Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Celtics

The Celtics are favored by 12.5 points. The over/under is 228.5 points. Considering that the Spurs have struggled on defense lately but have been strong offensively as of late, the smart money is on both teams combining for 229 or more points.
