Alexander Isak endeared himself further to Newcastle United supporters by repeating his famous “Areet Wor Kid” meme at the Town Moor.
Thousands of Toon fans painted the city black and white to commemorate the Carabao Cup win. Wild scenes were expected given the 70-year trophy drought that Newcastle ended at Wembley a fortnight ago.
And the Geordies did not disappoint - with more than 300,000 turning out to give the squad a heroes welcome. Few players are as popular as Isak at St James’ Park given his insane two-and-a-half years since arriving from Real Sociedad.

Regarded by many as the best striker on the planet, the Swede has 23 goals across all competitions this season. He bagged the second against Liverpool at Wembley to give Arne Slot’s men an uphill task.
Given his new-found status as Toon legend, Isak was always going to receive a rapturous applause at the Carabao Cup celebrations. Celebrity duo Ant and Dec welcomed the 25-year-old to the stage and got him to replicate the “Areet Wor Kid” phrase which made Newcastle supporters howl earlier this season.
Isak also crowned the goal at Wembley as “the best” of his career - sending a defiant message to potential suitors about where his loyalties lie. The striker also opened up about the incredible Newcastle support.
“It’s impossible to describe this feeling,” Isak said at the Town Moor. “I scored a goal a minute earlier which was offside. That goal (which stood) was probably the biggest of my career. Obviously, with it getting us the win in the end. It felt amazing.

“It (the support) means the world to us. But it means more to see how much this means to the people. We’re so happy to give the city and the fans a feeling like this.”
