Quinten Post was not supposed to be a rotational player on a team with title aspirations, and he certainly was not supposed to be one of the better shooters on the Golden State Warriors. After being selected 52nd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, Post spent most of the season in the G League and was expected to be an end-of-bench guy at best.
However, he is shooting 42.9 percent from deep and averaging 8.7 points per game this season for the Warriors. While he was an excellent shooter in college, he didn't expect to find the same kind of success in the NBA.
In the Warriors' most recent win over the New Orleans Pelicans, Post shot 3-of-9 from distance. He never attempted that many shots from deep in his four NCAA seasons, although it's becoming almost expected.
At an even seven feet tall, Post was expected to play a more traditional center role off the bench in the NBA.
"I've never shot at this value, at full volume, at Boston College," confessed Post on Friday. "I was way more like a usage player where I was in the action, facilitating, and scoring inside. So I didn't really know that this was going to be my role, like 7-foot spotter or shooter or something like that, you know? But yeah, I noticed this is where right now I'm having a lot of success. Like I said earlier, I feel like I'm doing the team a disservice when I'm not being aggressive with my shot."

Post is perhaps the best shooter in the 2024 NBA Draft Class and is the floor-spacing big man that Steve Kerr has been looking for for years. At 24 years old, his prime is expected to come early and he will contribute to some winning teams led by Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler.
