**DaysofPal-** The Jenin municipality has confirmed that the Jenin refugee camp has become completely uninhabitable due to ongoing Israeli military aggression. The assault has involved the demolition of 3,250 housing units, as well as the conversion of others into military barracks.
The municipality further reported that the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continue to enforce a severe blockade on the Jenin governorate, home to approximately 360,000 residents.
Over the course of the conflict, the IOF has destroyed around 600 homes in the camp, leaving widespread devastation and displacement. The entire infrastructure of the camp has been reduced to rubble, exacerbating the already dire living conditions for its residents.
Military reinforcements, including bulldozers, have been sent to the camp, where demolition operations are ongoing. These operations also include street expansions and the opening of new roads, further isolating the community.
The IOF’s presence around the camp remains intense, with continuous live ammunition fire and the movement of infantry units inside the camp. Drone flights are also being carried out extensively, adding to the constant state of surveillance and pressure.
As a result of the aggression, the number of displaced persons from the camp has now reached 21,000, with many seeking refuge in the city of Jenin and surrounding villages. The ongoing displacement is a direct consequence of the destruction and military operations in the area.
The Hebrew website “Walla” reported that the IOF has significantly increased its engineering operations in the northern West Bank, which includes further demolition and clearing activities in camps such as Jenin.
The report quoted the commander of the IOF’s central region, who stated that the Israeli government has decided to dismantle the refugee camps in the West Bank, viewing them as “fortresses” for Palestinian resistance. The goal is to transform these areas into residential neighborhoods that will be integrated into the cities of Jenin and Tulkarem.
Since January 21, Israel’s military aggression has been concentrated on the northern governorates of Jenin and Tulkarem. The operations have included systematic arrests, field investigations targeting dozens of families, and the continued conversion of Palestinian homes into military barracks.
