**DaysofPal-** The Israeli occupation forces have continued their relentless air and artillery bombardment on Gaza for the 12th consecutive day, resulting in a staggering loss of life and widespread destruction. According to local reports, Israeli tanks are also besieging tens of thousands of civilians in the southern regions of Gaza, particularly in Rafah and Khan Younis.
The Gaza Ministry of Health said on Saturday that 26 people had been killed in its hospitals, including one who had been pulled from beneath the debris of a building that had been destroyed. The already serious humanitarian situation was made worse by the fact that 70 citizens were hurt in the last 24 hours.
Among the most recent casualties, a Palestinian was killed, and seven others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the town of Qarara, located to the north of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
A separate attack on a tent sheltering displaced people in Qizan al-Najjar, also in Khan Younis, resulted in the deaths of three Palestinians and left others wounded.
Israeli artillery shelling targeted the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis, where six people were killed and more were injured.
Israeli shelling also killed a child and injured five others, most of them children, at the Al-Shaboura camp in Rafah.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported a chilling toll since Israel resumed its bombing campaign on March 18. In just over a week, 921 Palestinians have been killed, and 2,045 others have been wounded. 114,095 people have been injured and 50,277 people have been killed since the genocide began in October 2023.
The Ministry also noted that many victims remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings or abandoned in open areas as rescue teams struggle to reach them due to ongoing bombardment and blockade.
Reports from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) have confirmed that tens of thousands of Palestinians are currently trapped in the towns of Khan Younis and Rafah, unable to flee the violence. Civilians in these areas are faced with a brutal decision: either risk their lives and the lives of their families by remaining in their homes or attempt to flee, where they risk becoming displaced once again.
The UN has also called attention to Israel’s continued use of food as a weapon, with the Special Rapporteur on the right to food, Michael Fakhry, condemning Israel’s policies for contributing to the deaths of thousands of children. Fakhry described Israel’s apartheid system as one that dehumanizes Palestinians and called for accountability through international sanctions.
