West Ham’s defender and those Manchester United rumours

Whether it is a specific policy from West Ham United’s Public Relations department, or whether Jean-Clair Todibo has simply spontaneously addressed those rumours linking him with an exit to Old Trafford in the summer, who knows. but the Hammers’ centre back has spoken exclusively to whufc.com on a wide range of issues.

Most telling for was Todibo dealing head-on with his situation at West Ham in the article headed:”Todibo | I’m feeling good and ready for another tough test” . The Nice loanee is due to be bought by the Hammers at the end of his loan spell this season, and many had written about him heading straight up to Old Trafford in the summer rather than remaining at West Ham.

It was rumoured that Manchester United was always the ‘end destination’ for Todibo who couldn’t move straight from Nice to United since both teams are under the same ownership: Conspiracy theories abounded that he’d just stop at West Ham for one season to get around Premier League regulations.

West Ham’s #25 has made his own position pretty clear with an emphatic:

“I feel really good here at West Ham, and in the UK. I don’t go out very much – I prefer to spend my time with my wife and my kids, and do things at home like playing on the PlayStation or PC – but I’m happy and settled.”

Which is a pretty clear statement of his situation. Hopefully that’ll put an end to those rumours then.

Interestingly, Todibo also admits that he’s been below par since Potter’s arrival:

“My injury dragged on for a while, but I’ve gradually built my fitness back up and now I feel really good and ready to play.”

“I had to take it game-by-game, and the [Head] Coach managed me. I’ve been working as hard as I can, and I completed almost all of the Everton game, which was good. We’ve had the international break, which came at a good time for me, and now I’m ready to go.” Which will come as welcome relief for those of us worried that Mavropanous might have been required again next week. No such concerns.
