Shedeur Sanders Unites With $160 Million QB After Projected Draft Slide

Where Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will land in the 2025 NFL Draft is one of the more intriguing questions of the spring.

There are those that believe there is a spot within the top-five picks, but there is also growing belief that Sanders will drop to the latter half of the first round.

Miami's Cam Ward is the consensus pick to the the first quarterback taken and, potentially, the No. 1 overall pick. The Heisman Trophy finalist is coming off a stellar performance at his pro day while Sanders has yet to throw in the pre-draft process.

According to a new mock draft from Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports, Ward is projected to go first overall to the Tennessee Titans while Sanders is projected to fall to the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 26 overall pick.

The Rams recently agreed to a restructured contract with veteran Matthew Stafford, who signed a four-year, $160 million deal in 2022. The former No. 1 overall pick led the Rams to a Super Bowl title in the 2021 season.

"Matthew Stafford is back in Los Angeles, but the Rams have to start planning for the future at the game's most important position," Stackpole wrote. "As a result, they end the slide of Shedeur Sanders and hope he develops into their next franchise QB learning behind a likely future Hall of Famer."

Sanders (6-foot-1.5, 212 pounds) led the nation in completion percentage (74%) while throwing for 4,134 yards (fourth nationally) with 37 touchdowns (second) and 10 interceptions as a senior in 2024.

Los Angeles should be a playoff contender in the NFC West next season with Stafford slated to return. This scenario could play out well for Sanders, as sitting behind an accomplished passer with a good supporting cast would provide an opportunity for growth.

The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
