Jets Projected To Give Justin Fields Help By Drafting All-American at No. 7 Overall

With the question seemingly answered at quarterback after the closing the door on the Aaron Rodgers era, attention turns to addressing other needs in the 2025 NFL Draft for the New York Jets

The new regime under head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey signed Fields to a two-year, $40 million deal after the former first-round pick started six games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season.

Fields is expected to earn the starting nod. But there are plenty of other areas of need after a disappointing 5-12 season.

According to a new mock draft from Kyle Stackpole of CBS Sports, New York is projected to give Fields a talented pass-catcher to pair with star wideout Garrett Wilson.

The Jets are predicted to draft Penn State tight end Tyler Warren with the No. 7 overall pick.

"Garrett Wilson is a stud, but the Jets need more in terms of pass-catchers," Stackpole wrote. "Tyler Warren gives Justin Fields a do-it-all weapon who will make Fields' job a lot easier."

Warren (6-foot-5.5, 256 pounds) took home the Mackey Award after posting career numbers as a senior last season. He led the Nittany Lions with 104 catches for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns, earning First-Team All-American honors.

Warren isn't just a talented pass-catcher, though, as he also racked up 218 rushing yards with four touchdowns while completing 3-of-6 passes for 35 yards and a touchdown last season.

The position is thin for the Jets after the free-agency departure of Tyler Conklin. Warren would likely be the favorite over Stone Smartt, who signed a one-year deal.

However, projections aren't certainties and anything can happen on draft night.

The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
