NFL Draft stage construction now underway in Ashwaubenon

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - Draft stage construction is now underway in the Village of Ashwaubenon, with phase one of road closures having started at 7 a.m. Saturday.

Those closures are allowing construction crews to begin bringing in the materials to craft the NFL Draft Theater where the picks are announced as well as the “NFL Draft Experience”, a free event where fans can get photos with the Vince Lombardi trophy and Super Bowl rings, experience interactive games, NFL flag clinics, get star player and legend autographs, and enjoy live music and local cuisine.

Now, with the draft now under four weeks away, the pressure is on for crews to get everything done in time.

A few weeks ago, we saw the renderings, which was really exciting, and now to have work underway. That vision that the NFL has had and everybody involved, it’s going to become a reality,” said Packers director of public affairs Aaron Popkey.

While Saturday was mainly reserved for getting everything set up and squared away, Sunday is when crews will begin using those materials to build the draft theater.

The first round of the draft starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 24th.
