Cole Palmer to Man Utd transfer approach revealed as Chelsea discover£150m'agreement'

Chelsea only have a few more days on the training pitches before they return to action. The Blues will host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening as they both look to climb the Premier League table.

Enzo Maresca's side will be determined to return to winning ways after dropping points to Arsenal before the international break. Mikel Merino fired the Gunners to a 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium as they cruised past the West Londoners.

Despite defeat, Chelsea have remained in the top four – but Champions League qualification is far from secure at the moment. So, with all that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Chelsea news and transfer gossip;

Chelsea consider AC Milan swoop

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Chelsea have been weighing up for an offer for Rafael Leao for 'months'. The 25-year-old forward has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge on numerous occasions in the past, but an exit from AC Milan hasn't materialised.

The report claims that Leao has a €150m (£125.5m) release clause in his contract, which keeps him at the San Siro until June 2028, but the Blues plan to work with his agent, Jorge Mendes, in an effort to whittle down his price tag. However, it's said that the Rossoneri won't even open talks for anything less than €100m (£83.6m).

football.london says: "Rafael Leao would be a good signing for Chelsea, but AC Milan are asking for far too much. He's good, but he's not THAT good. The Blues shouldn't pay anything more than £80m. 13 goals and assists in 27 Serie A games this season... Blimey ."

Palmer to United approach revealed

Speaking on the Talk of the Devils podcast, a Manchester United academy coach has revealed that Cole Palmer was 'close' to leaving Manchester City for Old Trafford as a teenager. Colin Little said: "I know Cole Palmer’s family quite well.

"I know his dad and his uncle, and we were close to getting Cole Palmer when he was about 16, believe it or not. He was umming and ahing and I knew he was a big United fan. He was at that age where you’re allowed to leave, 16 is it?

"And they were umming and ahing, Manchester City, about it. I think in the end Manchester City made him a good enough offer. But really, he was always a Manchester United fan and it was close anyway, I remember speaking."

Little added: "I think City needed to show him a bit more love and that kind of stuff. We never quite got it over the line but it would have been nice if we did, wouldn’t it?"

football.london says: "What could have been, eh. If Cole Palmer wanted to leave Chelsea, Manchester United would be the last team the Blues will worry about him joining."

Gyokeres sends transfer reminder

Viktor Gyokeres has fired Chelsea a reminder ahead of the summer transfer window. On Saturday night, the striker netted a brace in a 3-0 win over Estrela da Amadora.

He put Sporting ahead shortly after half-time before Geovany Quneda, who the Blues recently agreed to sign from the Portuguese giants, doubled the lead with a brilliant strike from a tight angle. Then, Gyokeres converted his second penalty of the game in the final minutes of the tie.

football.london says: " I think Viktor Gyokeres would do really well in the Premier League. He might not end up scoring as many, but he'd still put up good numbers. I just fear that Sporting will demand an extortionate amount."
