Failed Eagles Linebacker Signs With AFC Team

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed linebacker Devin White to a one-year deal last offseason, the hope was that they had brought in a former Pro Bowl and All-Pro caliber player to finally solve their woes at the position.

That didn't happen.

White was beaten out in training camp by Zack Baun and Nakobe Dean and did not even suit up for the team in any of their first five games of the regular season. White was eventually released by the team in Week 6.

Now, the veteran has found a new home - signing with the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year deal as well.

White could easily be seen as one of the worst signings of last season for the Eagles in what was an excellent offseason. Head coach Nick Sirianni made it clear, though, that the failings on the field didn't mean he was a bad team player.

"He handled everything with class," Sirianni added. "I know it was a hard situation for him to be in − a guy that had started a lot of games in this league, and had been successful in this league. I can't say enough good things about Devin the person and how he handled a difficult situation for him.

"I think it gives you perspective of how we feel about the rest of the room, and the guys that we have in that room, and how they've been executing and playing. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow with the guys that we have."

The Raiders are hoping for White to be closer to his All-Pro self compared to his struggles in Philadelphia.

He's running out of chances to do so, though.
