Aston Villa star could face FA Cup semi-final heartbreak

Morgan Rogers will walk a disciplinary tightrope when Aston Villa face Preston North End this afternoon.

The forward is the only Villa player to have collected one booking in the FA Cup this season, meaning he is another caution away from a suspension.

If Rogers picks up a yellow card against Preston and Villa win, he would serve a one-game ban in the Wembley semi-final.

FA Cup rules state that bookings are wiped clean after the quarter-final stage.

Nottingham Forest duo Ryan Yates and Neco Williams will both miss their side's semi-final as a result of picking up their second cautions in the competition against Brighton last night.

Last season, Coventry City’s Kasey Palmer missed the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United after receiving his second caution of the competition during the Sky Blues’ quarter-final win at Molineux.

The midfielder was booked for encroaching onto the pitch to celebrate Haji Wright’s winning goal, which stunned Wolves in the 110th minute.

Villa’s Rogers received a yellow card in the 57th minute during the third-round win against West Ham.

After Amadou Onana scored in the 72nd minute, Rogers turned the game on its head by scoring the winner shortly after.
