Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Greg Taylor is likely to depart Celtic in the summer when his contract expires, paving the way for a new-look left-back situation at Parkhead.

Kieran Tierney is set to return and reclaim the starting role he vacated when he left for Arsenal in 2019. But the Celtic boss insists that depth is crucial—and another left-back will be needed.
Speaking after the win over Hearts, Rodgers hinted that Taylor’s time in Glasgow could be coming to an end, noting the club will be in the market for a player who can contribute regularly alongside Tierney.
One name already in the building is Jeffrey Schlupp. The Crystal Palace veteran, 32, is on loan until the end of the season and has impressed with his versatility and experience. His deal at Selhurst Park expires in the summer, and while nothing has been agreed yet, Schlupp isn’t ruling out staying on a permanent basis.
The left-back told SunSport: “I’m loving it here at the minute.
“Regarding next season, nothing has been spoken about.
“I’m concentrating on this season, getting more minutes and winning more games.
“Hopefully I can finish off the campaign strongly, but everything is a possibility.
“I had to think seriously about coming here in the first place, and anything that happens in the summer will be a big decision for me too — but we’ll see what happens.
“As far as I’m aware, I have come here on loan.
“That’s all that has been mentioned – play to the end of the season, get some minutes in.
“Play well, have some fun and we will see what happens after that.
“As I’ve said a number of times, I have loved being at Celtic, and my performances have shown that, I think.”
Schlupp’s reliability and ability to fill in at both left-back and midfield make him a valuable asset in Rodgers’ squad, especially with the rigours of European football and domestic competition. With Taylor set to leave and Tierney’s fitness not guaranteed to last a full season, Celtic may well look to tie down the former Leicester man on a longer deal.
